THE PAGEANT - will be very glamorous, exciting and entertaining for you and any member of your family and friends who attend.  It will truly be a very memorable experience and could lead to new opportunities in your life.  MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY & MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY TEEN win a prize list valued at approximately $15,000.00 including entry fee paid to the prestigious, 2011 State Pageant.

THE COMPETITION - is divided into 3 categories: Personal Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown.  The judges will be looking for an all around winner.  She may not be the most outstanding in any one category yet she will score highly in all categories.  The judging is based on poise, personality, intelligence and beauty.  There is no talent competition and no experience is necessary.  In addition to choosing MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY & MISS RIO GRANDE VALLEY TEEN, awards will be presented to the most Photogenic, Best Evening Gown Presentation, Best Swimsuit figure, Director’s Choice and Miss Congeniality.

WHERE & WHEN? - The pageant will be held on March 20, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium located at Edinburg, TX.

ORIENTATION and REGISTRATION - Sunday, February 7th and Sunday, February 14th, 2010 at Vogue College of Cosmetology from 12:30 to 2:00 PM.

WORKSHOPS - will be held at Vogue College of Cosmetology located at 800 W. Fern Ave (behind HEB) McAllen, TX .  Once you register, you will be given a schedule with dates and times of the workshops.
The workshops will consist of the opening dance number, walking/modeling, personal interview, and on stage questions. Extra practices will be scheduled as needed.

REHEARSALS - will take place at the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium on Thursday evening, March 19, 2010 (time to be announced) and Saturday March 20, 2010 immediately following personal interviews.  Saturday’s practice will be a full dress rehearsal.  Please bring gown, shoes, opening number dress and swimsuit.

COMPETITION WARDROBE – You will be required to provide your own competition wardrobe:
1.    Evening Gown – Gown should be full length, fit you well and compliment your own coloring and physical features.
2.    Personal Interview Attire – You should wear a daytime outfit that you feel is appropriate for an interview, something that suits your taste and personality.  A good                 guideline would be to ask yourself, what you would wear for a press conference or television interview.
3.    Opening Production Number – To be announced.
4.    Swimsuit – One or two piece red swimsuit.  Must be a solid color.  No string bikinis.  

PHOTO’S - You will need to turn in (2) two 5 X 7 colored headshots of the same pose as soon as possible.

FEES AND WHAT THEY COVER - Your entry fee is $495.00.  You can pay the entry fee in payments.  This includes a half page ad in the program book, which will include your photo, name and sponsor acknowledgments.  You have the option of purchasing additional full page ads in the program book for $250.00.
Fees may be obtained from a sponsor, a group of sponsors, family, friends, or the contestant herself.  Any donation from your business may be tax deductible as an advertising expense.  Fees can be paid for by check, money order or cash.  All fees are totally non-refundable.  Please make checks payable to Miss Rio Grande Valley Pageant.
