| Hello, my name is Ashley Lynae Hughes and I am Miss Rio Grande Valley USA 2008. I would like to like to start with a little glimpse of who Ashley Hughes is. I am a senior at Sharyland High School and I am an extremely active person. I participate in Cheerleading, Diving, Theatre Arts, Business Professionals of America, and FCA; and that is just at the high school. Outside of school I like to sing, dance, act, volunteer around the community, and cook. I guess you could say I am modern day Renaissance Woman. After high school I plan to attend St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas where I will be on the cheerleading team as well as Pre-Law major. I am almost positive I have the most supportive family in existence. My father always encourages me to do my very best, and since he has no other men in our household he takes pageantry on as i! f it were a full blown sport. My mom gets more nervous than I do, but I have never met anyone else in my life that can give better advice than she does; she is by far my rock. My sister, who is only fifteen months older than me, is constantly sending me pictures of shoes, dresses, interview attire, and anything you could think you would need for a pageant. |

She her self would never in her life compete in a pageant, which makes it so awesome that she is so helpful when I compete. I know that as Miss Rio Grande Valley I have the chance of a lifetime and I promise that I will do my best to live up to the prestigious title and its esteemed legacy.
I am so excited for the many appearances and events that I will able to attend as Miss Rio Grande Valley USA. One of which was attending the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was amazing to be there when our very own Texan Crystal Stewart won. I think everyone can agree that she deserved it! I also get to judge the Miss Teen Canada pageant in Vancouver in the late summer; as well as competing in the Miss Texas USA pageant in Laredo in late June. I couldn't be more excited to get my year kicked of as Miss Rio Grande Valley USA. I want to thank Debbie and everyone involved for giving me this amazing opportunity.
