Laura Danielle Gonzalez is the daughter of Larry and Alicia Gonzalez along with two younger brothers, Laurence and Aaron. She is a 16 years old sophomore at Edinburg North High School where she is ranked number 5 out of 684 students. She is also an honor roll student taking several Advanced Placement (AP) classes which have earned her several college credits.
 She manages to keep up with academics while being busy with extra curricular activities. She is the Sophomore Class Vice-President, a Junior Varsity Cheerleader, part of the Drama Club, and part of her schools mock trial team. The mock trial team won at the regional level and then continued on to get 7th place at state level. Last year she placed 3rd in the Freshman One Act Play as she portrayed the role of Ismene.  She continues to compete in UIL in the areas of science, math, and calculator skills. Laura danced ballet for eleven years and then became part of her high school’s drill team as a freshman.

 Outside of school Laura is involved in other activities such as tumbling, the National Hispanic Institute (NHI), and pageants.  She placed top 8 at the state level at the NHI competition in mock trial.  In 2006, she was recognized as the youngest to win the Miss Edinburg title at only 14 years of age. As Miss Edinburg, she was able to be introduced at the Senate Floor at the Capitol in Austin.

As the reigning Miss Rio Grande Valley Teen USA, Laura will represent the Rio Grande Valley at the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant in Houston, Texas.
This coming year is sure to hold many exciting opportunities and wonderful experiences as Miss Rio Grande Valley Teen USA.
